This was a gift for a long time Iowa football fan. After reading it, I found myself also wanting a copy. Excellent history of the Iowa Hawkeyes.
 Great Overview of Hawkeye Football September 6, 2007
As the previous reviewer mentioned there are plenty of Hawkeye football stories that are not captured here. This is a great overview of Hawkeye football though! I've followed the Hawks for decades. This book was a great way to revisit some of my favorite memories of Iowa football. It also helped me better understand the players and the games from before my time. My dad used to tell me about the Rose Bowl teams of the Fifties. I also heard about the Iron Men and the great Nile Kinnick. All of this was covered as well! This has some great stories and lots of pictures from the best moments of Hawkeye football. I would highly recommend it!

For those looking for a quick flashy reference of the highlights in Hawkeye history, this book is for you. Clearly divided into chapters on players, coaches, big games, rivalries, quotes, traditions, and stats, it's pretty easy to find what you're looking for. However, it only hits the hightlights, so there are a lot of great Hawkeye Football moments left out or mentioned all too briefly. It's a nice introduction to Hawkeye Football, but by no means a definitive guide.
